Is VikingFest family friendly?
Saturday daytime is an all-ages celebration. Parent discretion is advised for evening entertainment. Friday’s Loki’s Night is strictly for guests 21 and older.
What happens if it rains?
VikingFest is a rain-or-shine event. Programming may adjust for weather and safety, but the gathering will continue whenever conditions permit.
Can attendees camp at VikingFest?
On-site camping is reserved for the cast, crew, entertainment, approved vendors, and weekend volunteers helping build and operate the festival. Visitors can explore nearby lodging and camping options from the Plan page.
Are dogs allowed?
Well-behaved dogs with current vaccinations are welcome on a short leash. Only service animals may enter the Castle Bridge building. Please be prepared to clean up after your animal and remove them if they become distressed or disruptive.
Can I bring a sword or live-steel prop?
No firearms, live steel, peace-tied metal weapons, axes, knives, or similar items may be carried by attendees. Foam and boffer props may be allowed after inspection. Read the complete Sword & Prop Policy before arriving.
Do I have to join a clan?
No. You may choose any clan, take the clan quiz, or enjoy the festival without joining one. Choosing a banner simply gives you another way to participate in the living story.
Is VikingFest a Pagan festival?
VikingFest includes people from many religious and cultural backgrounds, including members of the Norse Pagan community, but it is not exclusively a Pagan event. Everyone who respects the festival’s inclusivity and conduct standards is welcome.
Is this a historical festival?
It is a blend of history and Viking-inspired fantasy. Hedeby Village emphasizes living history, while other areas celebrate mythology, music, games, popular culture, and imaginative storytelling.
Are costumes required?
No. Viking, fantasy, and modern clothing are all welcome. Costumes are encouraged but never required.
Is the site accessible?
The festival is primarily outdoors on grass and gravel. Ramps serve several areas, but some experiences—including parts of the VIP dinner—may involve steps. Contact the team before your visit so we can discuss your specific access needs.
How do D&D Ragnarök Adventures work?
D&D sessions are limited-capacity ticket add-ons. Each game begins at its scheduled time with six players and ready-to-play characters, so please arrive a few minutes early.
